Dealers don't need my business

We are looking to downsize and saw a 2025 2 berth Swift advertised on the website for a large dealer in Yorkshire.

I e mailed them asking for more information on Tuesday 14 April, and had an automatic reply saying they would be in touch very soon.

It is now Saturday 18th April no response from them, admittedly the website now says they have been sold, but also says they have on line chat available

The caravan is no longer on the website either so have to look elsewhere, or keep the existing van
 
I've never had a reply to any enquiries to these generic email addresses. I wonder why any company bothers with them. As the OP said it's like they don't want your business even though it's a buyers market. They should have been biting your hand off.
 
I find that a significant number of businesses, generally not just the caravan industry, simply don't respond to emails - especially the contact forms in the Contact Us part of their website.

In contrast, a business I'm dealing with to source replacement sensors for my car pride themselves on a 15 min turnround for email queries during business hours - that's with a technical answer, not just an acknowledgement - the resultant purchase is being shipped from Germany so we'll see how they do on deliveries!

I am not suggesting this the case with OP s experience . The tighter the margin the less interest there will be. Its easy for an email to get lost especially with the amount of unsolicited mail flying about.

We all know that times are tight for businesses - all the more reason to try harder not to alienate potential sales.
 
I have found that using the contact us page has sometimes resulted in my email ending up in their junk folder. This is based on feedback from 3 different places where I have followed up with either a direct email generated from my account or a telephone call. In all cases I had an apology and feedback that they had found my email in junk. Of course this could be all Porkies but on one other occasion when I didn’t follow up I did get a response saying that they had only just found my email in junk. This one at least seemed genuine.

Like others I have found that often if I use a companies web based contact form I either don’t get a reply, or one takes an inordinate time to arrive. So I too either use direct email, or phone.

I prefer the personal approach by telephone my self as that way you a pretty much guaranteed a response and quite often further help.
 
For a decent 2-berth have a look at a Bailey Unicorn S4 Merida. It was brought out to replace the Unicorn Seville S4 which had major weight balance problems (I should know - we had one!)
The Seville was 6.19m long but had the gas locker, cooker, and bathroom all the the back end - MIRO on the nose was 31Kg. We never managed to get it above 54Kg albeit it did tow well on the back of our Passat Extate 2L 150 TDi and later Skoda Karoq 2L 150 Tdi.
The Merida is basically a Pegasus body with a different layout and is exactly the same length at 6.47m.
