Detachable Tow Bar

I've just taken deleivery of a Passat estate with a detachable tow bar. I have an Alko stabiliser which needed a different tow ball with a longer neck. Will I be able to use my detachable tow bar with this set up or is there a different type of attachement I will need ?

Any idea ?

Thanks

Bob,

No - the detachable tow ball is already OK for the ALKO / Winterhoff stabilisers.

What you will need to do is clean all the black paint off the tow ball surface itself. Use a 200 grit sand paper - aluminium oxide is good.

Look at the breakaway cable attachment point (usually) on the right hand side of the fixed mount. If it is too small to loop the cable through - you could either change the breakaway cable for one that has a stronger clip or put a small carabiner or D ring through the mount.
