Devon road information please

I will be travelling from Crossways Site Warmwell to Willingcott Site Woolacombe.Advised by AA route planner to take the A373 from Honiton to the M5.

I seem to remember (some years ago) that this route is not recommended for caravans, its gets rather narrow.

Can anybody advise? or possibly suggest another route.

Thanks

Hi Roy

Yes this route does have one or two very narrow pinch points - I used to frequently use it when we lived in N Devon and were travelling to the S Coast, with our 'van. You should be ok, just be prepared to let others through the narrow bits. Alternatively, you could drive down to Exeter on the A30 from Honiton, and then back double up the M5 to J27, but that will add about 40 miles to your journey - it all depends how confident you feel about negotiating small country lanes!

Hope this helps

Mike

Thanks for the info.I seem to remember we were going to Minnows and met a dust cart on the way. When we arrived at the site, the owner advised against using that road.

I have a twin axle van,so will possibly give it a miss and go the way you say,or check out getting to the A303 from Dorchester then the M5.

i have taken this road in my artic some years back before they put a weight limit, its not a great road but it is possible to get your twin axle unit down here, id take mine down there rather than go all the way round, mike
