I think that Rod opened the topic to spark a bit of debate and banter on a wintry afternoon and theres no harm in it as long as things don't get out of hand.

I have to admit, I agree with the use of that 'figure of speech' (also 'tows like a dream' ;-)) - it doesn't tell you anything useful.
When I was looking to buy my first van and towcar recently, I just kept reading 'tows like a dream' and 'can't even tell the van is there' - doesn't help you in trying to decide on what to get.
When I finally bought my car and did my first tow, I was amazed at how glaringly obvious it was that I was towing a caravan - apart from the constant tale-gater, acceleration was non-existent and the corrugated iron that sometimes pass for roads in this country regularily reminded me that I was towing something.
Unless you're towing a bicycle with a 32-ton arctic, I could never imagine using the 'figure of speech' of 'I can't even tell the caravan is there' - it's just not even vaguely accurate!

Figure of speech was taught in junior school when I was a lad. In fact only 10 minutes before coming on here we were talking with our neighbour and that old faithfull "First Aid In English" was mentioned. I went into the study and got my wife's copy from when she was a school girl and on pages 76 and 77 are swveral examples. Ah the good old school days have come in handy.

I've applied for the job of bra fitter. I suppose some will need a bit of scaffolding so I'd better order some in.
And, some fellas can remove their girls bra`s the same way!!
But it is more meaningful in the car, when your aged about 17 ;-)
Rod - I have alreafy been appointed as Lord B's technical adviser and also for checking knicker elastic is correct tension so as not to cause too much impression on the tender female skin.
Keep up with the play girl. We are now talking about something else with pulling power. Boobs :O)

Bravissimo I shouted as I crossed the Severn suspension bridge yesterday. All that tension keeping things in place. What a miracle of modern physics with all those underwired bits.
Now I'm honestly trying to keep abreast of things here but if I've boobed please ask Lutz for a technical assessment on weights and size. LOL

My first impression when reading this posting was the Triumph car - damn good tug the Triumph 2000 - I presume that the reference was not to the car or the motor bike by a similar name.
