I filled up with diesel yesterday, it was £1.32 per litre, I noticed that standard unleaded was 4p more per litre.

It’s a long time since I have seen diesel cheaper than petrol.

I’d even be happy with that petrol price of £1.36.9 still 2p cheaper than any near us. Mine is presently doing a self test on its low level warning sytstem and the satnav then flashes up and offers to take me to the nearest fuel station or others within the tanks remaining range. Technology is amazing. 👍

It's the same price around here Dave, Morrisons in Wrexham by far the cheapest for diesel though.
I did get 20litres of V Power petrol for my Enduro Bike last night, £1.52 ltr which is cheapest for quite a while (but that is a toy so fuel prices don't count :))

What? Diesel only 4 pence per litre cheaper than petrol? It's 29 eurocents cheaper per litre where I live at the moment. That's over 25 pence.

My Mum & Dad had a petrol station (which I later had) waaay back in the late 60's & I wish for the life of me I could remember the price difference between petrol & diesel in those days, I know it was big. We sold so little diesel back then the price wasn't even on the pump

The price for petrol is on the pumps. 32 1/2p for the 95 and 33 1/2p for the 99. That would be per gallon I think.

Don't remember seeing deisel for sale in regular garages.

Prices seem to be in 'p' and decimalisation was 1971 but for a couple of years before its possible 'p' was being shown I suppose.

In the sixties we had an oil embargo placed on our country by the UK with Ark Royal steaming up and down, but our fuel was still considerably cheaper per gallon than in the UK. Weird! LOL! I think we were paying about 2/6d for a gallon.

Didn’t SA synthesise fuel from coal, and being near to Angola a sea borne embargo would be undermined.

Sainsbury’s melksham 1.34.9 fir petrol, 1.38.9 fir diesel. Both 4 pence cheaper than a Sainsburys 8 miles away. Yet probably topped up by the same tankers.

Looking round diesel still looks a bit more expensive but the gap is now only a couple or three pence.
Where we were last week in Cambridgeshire diesel and petrol were same price but coming home our local garage in North Lincolnshire diesel was about sixth pence more

Fuel retailers will charge what the local market will stand.
In remote rural areas, fuel forecourts are further apart and costs are higher.
In urban areas where there are large supermarkets selling fuel, the prices will usually be lower.
As Sam mentioned, there's nothing more of any value to add.
