so the cost of fuel keeps rising,up up up up.clearly nobody is bothered, why,as a sales manager that has to pay for my fuel and claim back at 10p per mile i need to acheive 51 mpg to cover my costs.

do i--yes by driving at 55 to 62 mph.

i am amazed every day that people pass me at 70-80-90 plus miles a hour, then 10 miles up the road i meet up with them.THEY DONT CARE ABOUT COSTS,AND AT 1.12 PER LITRE I THINK THE PUBLIC DONT EVEN UNDERSTAND THE COST PRICE OF A GALLON.

SO CLEARLY people are not bothered, just fill up and zoom zoom zoom.

only road runner is faster, and he does not run on any fuel at all

I would like to add that the last time I was in the UK I was surprised how many people fill up at expensive petrol stations. I saw cases of two petrol stations only a few hundred yards apart where the queues were just as long at the one charging several pence per litre more than the other, despite the cheaper one also being a brand name oil company, not a supermarket.

With that sort of behaviour one can only assume that the price is still far away from where at least some people would begin to feel a real pinch.

I have commented before that one of the reasons they get away with hiking up the price comes from when we went over to quoting the price in litres and not gallons so 10p increase many do not equate that to nearly 46p a gallon combine that with decimalisation for us older ones and it gets worse.Previously a very small increase per gallon (an old halfpenny) in the budget would result in long queues at the pumps to fill up before 6pm.Now they put 2p on (10.5p per gallon) and nobody bothers and that is without all the other fuel increases.

As previously stated under a different topic - we were advised to buy diesel vehicles as it was more economical and supposedly run "greener". We took that advice and now are being hammered by the government and the suppliers. Aren't we dull in believing them and then falling for their tricks?

Does it really matter which party we vote in there all going to hit the easy targets every budget motorists, drinkers and smokers do they not realise that they keep putting up fuel prices that haulage companies have tp get there money back by putting up delivery charges supermarkets and the like have to get that extrs cost back for somewhere so who pays? thats right us so we get stung at the pumps to start with then when we do our weekly shop were stung again nobody loses out not the hauliers not the shops but we do again so we have to work longer hours i myself work well over 60 hours a week to support my family and pay my bills. I also work in another town as the work i do there is no company in my own so it costs me more to go to work and with our companies planned 2% pay rise why should i bother when petrol/diesel has gone up 18% this year gas/lec 13% bread 16% eggs i was asstounded at this 40% my god we havent even had bird flu in this country and potatos 20% I seem to be working longer and longer hours and my money lasts less and less what about savings well i dont have enough to put anything away anymore.

Im sorry to say but i think my car and my caravan may have to go the journey and i will have to leave my job as i wont be able to get there but the good news is there is a national pet shop and sports shop about 2 mile away taking on for the national minimum wage.

Many a true word , I have over the years changed job to get closer to home . I used to travel to Maidenhead every day but gradually changed to dealerships nearer to home ending up travelling just 3 miles a day.

The problem with that was the tax for my company car compared to use meant it wasn't worth having.

Hopefully starting a new job soon just 5 miles away with no company car so should be
