discoloured abbey

hi has anyone had the problem of the front panel on their van

being discoloured.we own a 2006 abbey gts vogue which was new

when we brought it,the other weekend when we returned from a

weekend away i noticed that the whole front panel was a yellow

colour , compared to the rest of the van.anyone know how to

solve the problem or is it something that my warranty should

deal with.

You'll not be happy unless you take it back to the dealer and complain. Have you been using any particular brand of polish on it?

Hi,

I also have a 2006 GTS Vogue bought new in October last year. There is no difference in colour as far as I can tell between the front panel and the rest of the van and it certainly isn't yellowed so unfortunately it does look as if yours has a problem. I would get the dealer to look at it as soon as you can and see what they think.

I'm sorry you have a problem with your van but thanks for the heads up. I will keep an eye on mine now in case the same thing starts to happen.

When did you buy your van?

hi steve we brought the van in december 2005 but is class as

a 2006 or so i am told.so far we are pleased with the van other

than a few things which was sorted out on the service. the van

does look worse when it is wet.

I worked in the plastics research business for 15 years and if you've ruled out yellow surface dirt and the panel which is probably acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) is actually turning yellow then it sounds like a duff batch of polymer that has the wrong UV stabiliser added or none at all, in which case replacing the entire panel under warranty is the only answer.

Another issue from my years of researching acrylics is never put cling film on your plastic windows, the plasticisers in the film cause the windows to craze.

Thanks for the reply.

Sounds like Garfield knows his stuff so obviously it needs checking out. Like you we have had a few niggles which have been sorted by the dealer but overall we love the van and can't wait to go away again. looking forward to July 2nd!

What model do you have. Ours is the 417.
