We have just brought our first caravan a lunar lexon fb 6 berth of 2004 vintage!A excellent buy a offer I couldnt turn down.

My question is about tow cars, I have a 97 disco tdi and also a vw sharan tdi 1.9. The disco is a great truck but I am going to swap it. I am after a mk3 disco but they are out of my price range at the minute so I will wait until a second hand one turns up, so in the mean time I intend to use the vw. I have checked with the dealer and he said it would be ok to tow. has anyone got any thought on this match good or bad? thanks alot Martin
 
Martin, I haved towed with the 115bhp tdi Sharan and it pulled the van (@ 1400kg) with ease. I suppose it depends on how heavy your van is. With the rear two seats taken out the VW, I think, is a good alround tug with a decent fuel retun (@ 30mpg towing).
