DODGE CALIBER

Looking at replacing my current car for a Dodge Caliber CRD SXT manual - kerbweight is 1560kg. Will this tow my Adria altea 542uk model and is it a good match?

Hi mark,

I would check with the makers max tow on one of these as other Chrysler/Dodge products such as Explorer and PT cruiser are notouriously low. It may be only about 1200KG!

i looked at the caliber and it doesnt tow as much as a santa fe im sure but i havent a great memory. its very simular to the santa fe.

thanks for your quick response everyone..........looks like the Dodge is not for use!

The maximum permissible towload of the Dodge Caliber 2.0 CRD is even less than what David mentions - only 1120kg! This would be way too low for an Adria Altea 542UK, unless you plan to tow it with next to no payload.

hi mark, we tow a sterling elite onyx 2008 fully loaded single axel and im sure it tows on about 85-88%. As i said we have a santa fe 2.2 cdx 7 seater auto very simular to the dodge but can tow more. i dont know the weight of your adria 542uk fully loaded.

Hi Mark, if you belong to either Camping & Caravanning Club or Caravan Club ring their technical depts. and ask for a check to see if the car is safe to tow. The x-trail is coming up at 74%, recommended safe towing is 85%.

Despite a weight ratio of under 85% it would be illegal to tow if the towload limit specified by the manufacturer is exceeded, as in the case in question.
