I think it does, yes. We have a 7'6" wide van which is a Swift, but built for the Dutch market and wider than similar British models at the time. Our neighbours on our storage site have the same van, but only 7'1" wide. Yesterday they came in to chat to us about some work we were doing on the van - and she immediately noticed how much more 'roomy' it seemed than their van.

We notice now, when looking round at other models (we're thinking of changing our current van)that most seem narrower - even if the difference is only a couple of inches.

I think if you buy 'wide' and use it, then any narrower vans will seem cramped, but you probably won't immediately notice much difference.

We went from 7'2" to 7'6". The difference is most noticeable especially in the "pinch" areas. The towing mirrors still give a good view.

back when we last changed in 07 the narrower bailey 6 berth and our final choice Amara 560 were next to each other on the forecourt. Although in no way a deciding factor in the purchase (that was build quality) the extra width in the identical layout made a huge difference, especially in the kitchen area.

Check it yourself by comparing vans of the same layout but different widths. The bailey rangers are narrower than the pageants. We chose a Pageant Bretagne because it felt so much more roomy than the same layout on a ranger.

I prefer a narrower 'van. Our new Lunar will be an inch narrower than our current Bailey at 7ft1. It is a lot narrower than most new 7ft 6 'vans. Have to say it doesn't feel narrower on the inside.

Don't get the current obsession with having all 'vans 7ft 6 wide. We were quite restricted in width until we had our driveway altered (costing many thousands of pounds!)

We went from 7ft 4 to 7ft 2 and yes, we noticed it momentarily but it wasn't a problem at all, maybe as there's only the two of us. I guess if you had children and they are in and out and passing each other quite a bit it may be more noticable.

Ask er in-doors.

I feel the current size is ok, but she would like a bit more.

Who am I to argue??
Wondered when that post would come Anthony, wasn't brave enough to post it

Hello All, My new Bailey GT60 is 7'2" and my Brothers new Pageant is 7'6" wide. You notice slightly the benefit of the extra width. But when towing, we both have same Cars he has to use towing mirrors were as I dont. swings and roundabouts.

When we looked at a Lunar Quasar compared to a Pageant S7, the interior space didn't appear that different, but looking in the cupboards explained where the extra width was!

It makes quite a difference for the front bed. I'm 6' 2" and when I tried a couple of narrower vans, I could only just stretch out lengthways on the bed but our van is 7' 6" and I can do it with some room to spare.
