Totally agree Parksy, which leads me to believe it's a done thing, dogs will be charged for next year or in the near future.

Would be interesting to see how C&CC react especially if they pick up new members from the fall out.

Might be in their interest to sit on the fence on this one, being a member of both might just sway me to cancel CC direct debit next year if they go ahead, can't see them banning dogs not in this climate, see rather more caravans with dogs than without.

Suppose it would solve the problem of weekend bookings, the none dog brigades would have the sites all to themselves.

It's always possible of course that the CC survey is merely to establish how many "members" have dogs. Then CC will install more poo bins and dish out free poop scoops and improve all the dog walks and install dog creches etc.

Ok I've woken up now . LOL

Cheers

I have watched this thread over the past few days with interest.

I would like to add my thoughts, Firstly on our CL the most problems we have had is with dogs, usually them getting out of awnings. The major expense we have undertaken in the past few years is to dog proof the boundary fence. this is to prevent dogs getting into the woods, should they be loose. despite this cost we do not charge for dogs.Perhaps we should. On another tack I was on a CC site recently when a small dog attacked both me and my waste container, no blood was drawn and very little concern shown by the dog owner. As with so many events as these it is those that abuse the facilities that make it bad for the majority.

hi all

I dont really understnd the objection of some dog owners at being charged a fee for their pooches, we dont yes it is a added cost of a night stay but no more than the added cost of any other facility far better to campaign for free EHU or awnings or WIFI. god some sites charge for children does this drive families away no of course not, it must be said here however that it is very rare we use CC sites exept for the odd CL simply because of the cost per unit charge of some of the bigger sites is exorbatant to say the least. and why is this to fund swimming pools we dont use or clubs we dont go in.

I have 4 dogs who always come caravanning with us.

We tend to spend little time on-site as we're always away hiking/exploring with them.

A nominal charge of say

I am not a dog owner so I have not encountered the situation, and I must add that I'm not Anti dogs except when they foul and owners don't clean up - you can't blame the animals for that.

From the contributions made so far, I gauge that most dog owners accept that it is reasonable to charge a nominal sum to have a dog on site, and that really reflects the way most sites charge for a caravan then add Awning, EHU and occupancy number and extra cars on top.

The question is what is a reasonable charge for a dog(s)?

In my view

hi,

dogs!!!___theyre always at some time a topical discussion.don't dislike dogs, and havn't got one personally but!!! why shouldn't you pay for a dog, some small children are also walked, fed and toileted by parents, live in the caravan and have to be paid for and are not able to use the full facilities of the site, similar to a dog really______not saying it should be the full supplement as you would for a child but i do think it should be paid for.
Hi.I don't mind paying for my dog but he doesn't use the toilets or the showers or go to the club house like my kids,so why should i have to pay the same price for him.The price we pay for a site is to stay there and for the use of the facilities which a dog doesn't use.

Hi Gareth.

I whole heartedly agree that everyone has a free choice and in your case for instance the overall cost worked out to an acceptable level.

However my point is that where a site charges a substancial levi for dogs, then one should be entitled to some service conencerate to the level of charge. You know the sort of thing.
