Our children insist we take Mr Pickles our goldfish with us in the caravan, in his bowel, we do get some strange looks as people pass and see a goldfish on the front unit. We agree a caravaning with pets forum would be a very good and useful idea.
It must be very uncomfortable to carry a goldfish in ones bowel. lol

Many years ago when our kids were young we used to take the budgie with us his name was Brian, I'm sure he used to like his many caravan hollidays. It was no trouble just to pick up his cage and go, didn't take much to time to pack his things lol.

46 hits on this item and not one person leaves a poo behind. Fantastic!

At Grinlow Buxton last october a senior citizen lady, admittedly on a walking stick, let her little poodle wander near our van and $hit by my awning entrance. I only caught her once and out of sympathy for her condition was polite and like a fool picked it up with one of my poop scoops. For the next three days a little pile was waiting for us each morning. More fool me!

As for the Danes my friend uses the infamous supermarket bags, just the right size.

Lisa, I too do not wish to stereotype the poo culprits but in all my years of touring it is the older brigade that I have observed leaving the mess behind.

Cheers

Alan

We used to take the hamster with us

Have seen Giunie Pigs on leads as well

Rita
We used to take our hamster too, but the poor thing had to stay in the car at night because she kept us all awake going round on her wheel! Which meant I still didn't sleep as I was worried it was too hot or too cold, she survived though and went with us until she died of old age. Just have the one dog and two children who travel with us now, the fish stay at home!

We can also list children under a Pets forum as some people let their kids run wild like dogs!
we used to go to a country music festival at Burton on Trent. (caravans and tents) for a long weekend and one couple used to take their parrot .when they were sat outside the parrot had his perch out side with them and he used to fly round the site and "visit" the other campers ..surprise the first time you saw it

There are good kids and bad kids, good dogs and bad dogs and lots of good parents/owners but the really ones to worry about are the few bad parents/owners, they are where the problems start.

We went over to the Caravan to give it a clean today, as I have a few days off, the dogs went mental with excitment as they thought we were going away, we are not sure who enjoys our trips more, us or the dogs !

I see in the 'our website' forum people are pushing for a hobbys and interests section, while I have no problem with this, I feel there is still more need for a caravaning with pets/dogs section, our pets are not a 'hobby' but part of our family and there are many other sites that cover hobbys etc,, which I would go to myself but this is a caravaning site and as such would expect more caravaning issues , of which info for pet owners caravning would be very useful, i have never made a proper study but it seems to me well over half of all caravaners travel with their pets so we are not talking a small minority, i also agree a child friendly section would be useful.

Hi Paul

A 'pets corner' would indeed be a good addition to the forum, although I'm not in a position to make any promises on that score. If Haymarkets tech department ever upgrade the website then I'm sure that many suggestions will be incorporated, but in the meantime we're stuck with what we have. Why not start a regular thread on a given day under General so that all pet owners would know where to look and when so that they could exchange information or just anecdotes about their pets, pet friendly venues and that sort of thing.

The child friendly section,on the face of things a nice thought is, if you think about it a moral and legal minefield. Don't misunderstand me, I like kids, I was one once and I have three sons who are now independent young men, but we have no control over who might glean information or view any pictures that are posted. We can moderate and remove abusive or unseemly posts, but they've been seen by that time and the damage is done.
