Hi, we've just returned from France with P&O, taking our young dog for the first time. When I booked I missed the part about the dog and so paid standard price. Going out wasn't a problem - straight through. Coming back, the guy who checks pet passports at the border control told me the dog wasn't paid for and charged me for just the homeward leg - £18.50. I was wondering if all the ferry companies charge this and if so how do they justify the cost when the poor old mut spends all her time in her crate in the boot of the car? Also, if I'd properly declared the dog at the outset would she have been checked in the UK prior to departure?
