Has any body had any problems with a Dorema panorama sun canopy? Ours collapsed the very first time we used it, only 1 week old, in a light shower bending and breaking the aluminium poles. I have been told by Dorema that the canopy should not be put up in wet weather and will not refund or replace the poles or the canopy. The company we bought the canopy from, AJM Shopping, also will not replace or refund and keep referring me to Dorema. My wife and I our experienced caravaners and regularly use an awning. Has anybody got any ideas what to do next? Are the poles used for the canopy the same as awning poles, and if so should with stand more than a light shower? I look forward to peoples opinions or advice. I am going to write separately to practical caravanning as a subscriber, to air my extreme disgust at my treatment from both AJM Shopping and Dorema.

Ian sorry you've had such bad service - when will Caravan dealers & accessory shops learn what good customer service is? Insist on your money back from the retailer - you are covered by the Sale of Goods Act which states that goods must be of merchantable quality - clearly this awning is not. Don't be fobbed off, see your local CAB, they will be pleased to help. Good Luck

First of all check the handbook regarding the awning and rain and see what it states. If there is no warning, then you are in the pound seats. Secondly it is the dealer you should be pursuing under the sales of goods act and not the manufacturer.

Although the clue is in the name, SUN canopy, did the instructions from Dorema included with the canopy advise against use in the rain. If they didn't advise this, before use, you should have a claim against the supplier under the Sale of Goods Act as unfit for purpose.
