Dornafield, Nr Newton Abbot/ Ross Park

Hi, looking for somewhere for spring bank holiday and am thinking about one of these sites. Any comments on either site would be appreciated. Denise

Hi Denise

We have been to both these sites, and I must say we prefered Ross Park.

Don't get me wrong the pitches and toilet facilities at Dornafield is very good, but there is a very narrow entrance into this site, with brick walls either side, so it can be a bit of fun and games getting your van in. The shop is very small, and the local pub is down a long narrow lane, not suitable for walking with little ones.

Ross Park has a great dog walk, lovely pitches, and a nice restaurant. We also have a 13 year old boy, and the games room facilies were much better for him at Ross.

However both sites are really nice, I think it will come down to personal preferance.

Good luck

Tracy

We went to Dornafield for the first time in June last year and were very impressed with the site and facilities.

Pitched on a hardstanding that had it's own tap and drainage near to the toilet block in Buttermeadow. The toilet block was refurbished to the tune of

Hi Tracy, I thought I was set on Dornafield, but i,m not sure now. We have three little ones under 5 so the play area is important, doesn't matter about restaurants as we dare not go in them with our two year old twins! Dornafield has a nice area in Buttermeadow with a little green for them to play on. We do have a large twin axle so would getting in be a problem( not that I will be driving). Thanks Denise

Denise, we spent Xmas 2006 at Dornafield. Lovely site very friendly and the toilet block is fantastic, with underfloor heating. Good dog field and good size pitches. The entrance does look a bit tight but in reality was no problem with a 22ft caravan.

Not stayed at Ross park but looked around, it did look nice!

Hi

We use Dornafield as our weekend bolt hole. During the summer we go every 2/3 weeks. Not far from Plymouth.

The entrance is narrow, but we have a 22ft. The washrooms are realy good even in August, the shop has all the basics including fresh bread. There are 2 childrens play areas & a green in the middle for the children to play football. Newton Abbot is not far from hear with a Tescos & Asda.

Can't tell you about Ross Park but the pictures look nice.

Cheers for now

Thanks Julian and everyone for their replies. We have booked Dornafield and the owner has put us on a pitch around the green as we have small children. Its looks lovely lets hope the weather is the same! We have a large twin axle, but my husband is used to towing it around cornish country lanes so the devon ones shouldn't be much different! Ross Park does look lovely too but I like the look of the way the vans are laid out at Dornafield, they aren't all lined up in rows. Thanks again Denise
