The Innsbruck to Lake Garda part is quite easy over the Brenner motorway, superb views all the way. The only steep bit is a short section up to the toll booth where you join the motorway above Innsbruck. There is a lovely site called Camping Natterersee at Natters just out of Innsbruck however it would be a shame just to spend one night there as it has such a stunning setting, and a good restaurant!

Taffy, David is right about Innsbruck you need at least 2 or 3 nights there and we have not found a problem with the Brenner Motorway with an 8 metre caravan.

With regards to Bitburg that is our first stop, a site just outside at Oberweis 5 star, 15 euros per night on ACSI Camping Card named Prumtal Camping. We then usually go and spend 3/4 nights in the Black Forest at Bad Rippoldsau, Camping Alisehof 5 star with ACSI Camping card again and then Camping Nattersee which is another 5 star Camping Card site all 15 euros a night but you would have to check prices in July. We have done this trip quite a few times and love it.

Hi I havnt take the van to Garda or anything like that but I was there on holiday (hotel) a couple of years ago and the hail stones were the size off golf balls that damaged buildings and cars all along the lake side..I dont want to be a wet blanket but youtube garda and hail stones then make your mind up...a Porsche 4x4 parked outside our hotel was a right off ,every window smashed and panel bashed..what would it do to a van?
