Elddis 2002 avante master /12V switch

When towing my caravan what position should this switch be in to allow my fridge to charge from the car 12v supply ? It’s currently on 12v whilst hooked up to the site 240 v . If I turn it to master it isolates the 12v supply

I think the writing on the switch is a bit misleading- I think it is the Master 12V switch - the '0' being OFF and the 'I' being ON positions. I have a master control for the 12v but built into the switch panel by the entry door.

So when I am towing it should be in the off position O ? So my car provides 12 v to the fridge

My best guess would be that the fridge is wired to cool when towing independent of other 12v systems so turn the master off but remember to change the fridge control to ‘battery’ (rather than the mains or gas symbol).

The makings on the switch are not very helpful, but it should be described in the caravan's owners manual if you have one.

The standard fridges used in UK specification caravans can be powered in three different ways, from LPG, mains 230Vac or 12Vdc.

The 12Vdc cooling option is wired up to only run when the caravan is coupled to the tow vehicle, and it's alternator is producing power.

When uncoupled on site the fridge is wired so it cannot access the caravans 12Vdc to cool, you are limited to use mains 230Vac or the caravans gas supply, but depending on the model of fridge, it may need some 12Vdc from the caravan to run it's control system and display.
