Picked up a new superstorm three weeks ago, on the journy to a site for the night was hooted at by two cars, stopped and found that the strip that covers the screws in the awning rail was dragging behind the van all 40 foot of it. pulled it off and drove to site, arranged for dealer to come to the site last weekend to fit new strip. On arrival on friday night discovered a bad leak on one of the rear windows so rang and told them not to come out as i would take the van back to them for repair. Then when packing up in the rain on Sunday the strip on the other side was hanging out so removed this as well and they are going to replace both sides. Has anyone else had them come out and did it stay in when replaced, also anyone had the new type windows leak that are fitted on the superstorm, the dealer thinks that the outer seal is not seated correctly as I put tape across the top of the window and the leak stopped. Also have a couple of lights that do not work. Not very good for a van that cost me 18 grand!

Dave,

I took delivery of a new Superstorm at the end of March and fingers crossed no problems other than a scratch on a cupboard door that is to be replaced.(fingers crossed!!!)

If I were you I would be camped outside the Dealer who supplied until they agreed to relace.

Hi Dave, we took delivery or a Super Sirocco end of March and up to press has been no problem except for a drawer front that is split but apart from that I think the van is superb. After reading your story I had a look at ours and the awnining rail strip is fixed at the bottom underneath the van with just a couple of staples so it is possible that they have either forgot to put them in or are not secure enough (not the best idea). Our last van had them screwed into the awning rail which I think was a much better idea.

These windows have been useed since 02 and have generally been ok, the dark ones are just the same as the previuos. In fact my in-laws have a 92 Bessacar cameo with the same type of windows and no leaks so it just goes to show that technology has not moved on that quick. I think you have been just a little unlucky with your leak but it would annoy me to death and I think it does spoil your feeling for the new van. Hope you get it sorted and then enjoy what I think is one of the best looking vans on the road at the moment. Just ask Frank!

hi dave t

sorry to hear about your troubles ,we have a 2006superstorm ,our niggles are trivial compared to yours .We have had doors smash open (into the mirror) draws fly out of their housing when travelling, cooker earth wire fusing (small undetectable fire)which could have been more serious.Side repeater indicaters that are as much use to a blindman in fog,(note from jims wife - the biggest problem he has had is with the t.v aerial!!! He can not get a good picture no matter where we go in the country - He always blames the area!!! the rotten thing goes round and round like a helicopter blade then he gets fed up with it and plugs in our 50p aerial he acquired from a car boot sale - State of the art or What !!!)

Foot note: Prior to owning this 2006 model we did have a 1996 model which in our opinion was a much better build it seemed to be more robust in its upholstery and general manufacture but having said all this we still love our new van and I am sure once all your problems have been sorted you will too.

Hi Jim

Strange thing is our van has the same aerial as yours and we have found in the 2 outings up to press we have had the best tv pictures ever, even the Freeview was on full signal.

We are off to Rowntree Park this weekend (been going there for years) and we have always had a moderate tv picture so it will be interesting to see what signal we get. I often wonder if these things are always wired in properly, after all it is a caravan!
