Eldiss CV40

We ordered a CV40 in September 21. £2000 deposit. Originally delivery date was May 22. We have had one contact from dealership saying price increase of £2300 and delivery now expected in October 22.
Very worried there will be further price increases. Dealership say not but they can’t guarantee. Anyone else in similar situation?

I did not know what an Elddis CV40 was until I looked it up and it is a motorhome. I would suggest that you check your contract T&Cs as when you paid the deposit there was a contract in place. Depending on the T&Cs it may be worth contacting Which Legal Services for advice in case the dealer is trying to pull a fast one.

There are huge delays with all new motor vehicles which is why the second hand price of cars has shot up drastically.

Your dilemma isn’t unique. There have been similar delays and price hikes on caravans. One member cancelled the caravan order and obtained a refund of deposit. These are very strange times affecting a wide range of items and materials. It’s basically your decision whether to wait until October, where there might even be a further price increase, or talk to the dealership about whether they can absorb the increase, or cancel.

This has been reported on caravans and motorhomes will be no different. The position does seem to vary between makes as Bailey have said they would try and deliver at the agreed price but Eldiss do seem to be including the subsequent price hikes. Assuming your contract for purchase includes price rises the the dealer can charge these, if it does not then he cannot but he could cancel the sale. I am afraid that you may be stuck with these if you really want the motorhome. although if the market slows you might have some negotiating power by the time of delivery.
You will find a thread on this in the caravan section of the forum.
