Electric Kettles

Any advice on buying a kettle for the van would be appreciated. One which boils quickly and could also be used by hubby when he's off roading with the landy with a cigarette lighter adaptor

You are looking for the "Holy Grail" of kettles, Jane. If you want one that boils quickly and works using 12v then the amount of water boiled is going to be very small indeed. Better to have two kettles, one ordinary, domestic(not fast boil) which will work off the mains in your van and one with a 12v heating element for hubby. You could also consider using a low wattage 240v kettle and an inverter if mains isn't available.

Greetings,

Our kettle for sites with EHU has an element that is rated at 750watts. That equates to about 3 amps and therefore doesn't throw the switch.

We've used all over europe and only encountered a thrown switch when on a site that was giving us 6amps but SWMBO had another high usage appliance on at the time.
