We have a Bailey 550/6 2005 and are having problems with a mcb intermittently tripping out. Have unplugged everything and turned heater off but still it keeps tripping and wont let us reset straight away. If we leave for at least 15 mins then try will let us reset and will trip again (not necessarily straight away) with nothing connected or turned on.

Sounds like either a dodgy mains unit or a perhaps a short on one of your sockets. If you have access to a current clamp you could maybe see if anything is drawing any current even with all sources disconected!

hiya mate

I had a problem with my brother inlaws van, he had exactly the same as you are describing, check the cables are tight, switch off or disconnect the mains, remove the top of the unit, check all wires are tight and the bottom screws are tight.

If the all are, look for are signs of overheating, wrinkled cables, browned insulation.

If any of those, simply but a new mcb and fit.

We traced his fault to the mcb, new one was

What does the cb feed?

It could be a faulty cb, but equally it could be tripping due to a fault.

I assume you are talking about one of the typically two cbs, fed from the RCD?.

If so, i cant see it being a "short" circuit, this would trip the breaker, instantaneously.

An overload however takes a bit longer.
