hi all

got a new water pump this week and also a replacement pump for the thetford c2.

at weekend i will be fitting them so i will have to fill the toilet tank to test etc, i have been told how to fill the tank but as i am only filling it to test it how do i empty it properly from the outside?

thanks in advance

Just inside your cassette toilet door there should be a drain point with a 'bung'. Pull out this bung and stand well back. We always put a polythene sheet up behind the bung, blocking off the cassette compartment, otherwise the fast flow of water tends to get into the cassette compartment - and all over you if you're not careful!

I know others have suggested some modification to the 'bung' arrangement to allow it to be drained without water getting everywhere. Perhaps someone who's done this may be along soon.

thanks for that val a, just what i needed :)

would be good if someone can suggest a mod for it so you can attach it to some piping etc then just drain it :)

There's no pipe to pull down on ours - the bung just fits into the plastic - like one of those airbed bungs - hence the difficulty in getting the water to go where you want. It's something I've never understood, because it really is a silly arrangement and one that could so easily be altered.

i wonder if on that type then you could insert a bung from the inside instead so when you want to empty it put piping that fits the diameter of the whole on the outside then pull out the bung from the indside then puch the pipe in at same time?hmmm

Hi Val, To get round the bung, I went to a shop that sells home brew beer making kits and bought a small clear plastic tap/valve with a 1 metre length of 12mm clear plastic tubing. Removed the bung and sealed the tap in the bung hole. Now to drain the tank I push the tubing onto the tap. Put the other end of the tube into my wastemaster and turn the tap on. Just got to remember to turn the tap off when its empty. Cost of the tubeing and tap was around
