Endless lawnmowing...

We have just returned from a week on a CC site. It is a lovely site in a great location...but the wardens never stopped grass cutting. The cut the grass in the rain. They swooped on newly vacated pitches with their mowers and they unhooked people from the leccy so they could mow round them. They came so close to the caravan that we felt extremely uncomfortable sitting in it - and then they did it over and over again!

By the end of the week we were laughing about it, but my question is - is this normal? On other sites, there has been plenty of mowing - but never so close to caravans, and never every single day, including in lashing rain. The impression given was that the site would be much better without the caravans messing up the grass.

Funny that Liz, We've noticed the same. Sometimes it's just relaxing to sit in the awning or out in the sun during the day rather than sight see all the time. The constant drone of the mower is annoying. Ok they have to cut the grass but it seems a never ending task. Maybe they could reserve certain days for grass cutting so we could avoid it?

Cheers

They can't win can they?

If they cut it too often people complain about the intrusion.

If they don't cut it often enough people complain about wet long grass and grass cuttings treading into their vans.

In my view a more serious issue is that they shouldn't be disconnecting electrics - some caravanners have electrical equipment which doesn't restart automatically.

Not only have we had to put up with endless grass cutting, but also hedge trimming on a CC site from which we have just returned home! I think it is a 'game' by the warden and his little helpers to see just how much noise can be created in any one morning/afternoon (or both!).

I think some wardens have a particular dislike to daiseys - on two site in recent years a little inoffensive flower had only to show it's hed and the big Kubota machine roared up to remove it.

Not only do I dilike the noise, but I have an allergy to cut grass so usually have to go off-site until the smell goes away a bit. For this reason I now mainly use CLs where you can at least explain this to the owner, most of who are cooperative in leaving the stuff uncut near your van for a few days.

Like Ann had ,we were given the full Monty for a week with lawn mower and pair of young men with hedge trimmers and by night church bells ringing the hour , half hour and 7am the most discorded bunch you could have listened to.

Was this Houghton Mill by any chance?
Hi Valerie

Last time we stayed at there the warden had the old fashion tractor towing the triangle 3 open lawn mowers that left the cut grass all over the place, you can imagen the mess when i asked him why he did not have the more modern type he answered the cc would not spend the money.
