I was reading through the February 2013 issue of PC when I came to Pat and Rocky's Adventure in Herefordshire.
Unfortunately the black & white building picture was not taken in Pembridge, but 7 miles east in Corn Square Leominster. The three horse shoes pub is actually boarded up and not the best example to be found in Leominster. The Talbot hotel is about the best black & white pub in the town and still open both for food and drink. While in Pembridge you have "the kings house" which is a very good eatery.
A little more local knowledge on Shobdon airfield. Generally on a wednesday evening you can be treated to a free view of the RAF practicing landings of herculese transport planes at the air strip. Can't say too much but given the county's military connections you might see some exciting action.
There is a "local" furniature and brick-a-brack auction every wednesday from 6pm at kingsland auctions. There you will meet an interesting bunch of local "hill billy's". You might find a few antiques for sale but the fun is in the free entertainment watching about 1200 items sold in under 4 hours. I've bought everything from a caravan to antique horse brasses from there, it realy is an eye opener to yokel locals.
Leominster, Eardisland and Pembridge have a lot to offer tourists and townsend is a good site, Arrowbank at Eardisland has an excellent toilet & shower block and there you can realy experience the local night life of foxes and screech owls who nest in the trees on the site.
By now most of you will of guessed by my forum name that, I live in Leominster. I've lived within 5 miles of the town since 1964 and have also spent three and a half years living fulltime in our caravan until recently moving to a disabled persons bungalow. So you could say I have inside knowledge and outsider knowledge of the area.
