Our 1996 1300 Corolla needs a new exhaust pipe. The pipe is the one in between the front box and the rear box. However the garage are unable to source one as not in stock any where. We don't want to get rid of it as it is ultra reliable and paid for many years ago. Is there a way around this in addition to welding over the rust parts on the exhaust. Thanks.

Google 'custom exhausts' for your area, most are for stainless steel and some do section repairs, won't be cheap but the upside is that a stainless steel system should last the lifetime of the car.

We have one fairly local to us, if you book in your car you can wait and eat in their american style diner and\or have a haircut whilst you watch them fit out your vehicle.

Is it just a simple pipe? A decent exhaust centre will be able to find pipe of a suitable diameter and bend/cut to fit.
Find one that makes custom exhausts,I had a stainless steel system hand made for my MG years ago

I think the cost of the stainless steel exhaust is almost as much as the car is worth or more. We need to keep her at least another 3 years before even considering trading it in so don't want to spend nearly £300 on it at this point in time.

Thanks. Looked on eBay and there are some available. The garage suggested that to me as they for obvious reasons cannot buy stuff off eBay as it has to come from one of their suppliers which is why they cannot source one. Trying to identify which parts are actually needed.

We had a firm in hucknall make us a stainless steel exhaust. Lifetime guarantee and beautifully made replica of the original. No more expensive than OEM either.

local to me but for years they have made the pipes etc themselves. There must be a similar type of firm near you?

My daughter used them for a stainless system manufactured as pattern for her Subaru Legacy saloon. It was cheaper than OEM standard one. And unlike some companies Bell used decent gauge steel so the exhaust noise was unchanged.

here’s a National franchise

I’ve known Bell’s for over 40 years now! My son has a similar chap in Leeds who makes his own. These guys do exist and are not overly expensive👍👍

That can depend on whether viewing from just the owner's personal perspective, or our all's from our planet's.
From my personal perspective as see no reason to buy a vehicle that pollutes couple of grams less. I still get over 40mpg and the car passes its MOT every year with flying colours. Getting the exhaust repaired also helps reduce any impact on the environment which will be a lot less over the next 10 years than manufacturing a new car! :D
