External toilet fill help required please

Hi all i have a Thetford toilet with a external fill my problem is when i unlock or lock my waterfill the barrel comes away with key,its quite anoying is there an easy fix to stop this please

Hi Paddy/Mark!

This has happened a couple of times to me too! Just re-insert the barrel with the key in it and turn to the left or right and remove the key.

I don't know why it works, but it does!

I prefere to have a answer, but in this case I don't know why, but it works.

what happens is everybody opens the door with the key and on the end of the barrel there is a small clip that breaks

there is a modification with a cable tie on the end of the barrel but difficult to explain on paper, if you look at how the barrel is fixed in the cable tie locks the barrel at the back, an engineer at a good dealership should fix this without charging you

Hi Paddy

This has happend to me and I have found to much grease has been applide to the barrel of the lock. When next it comes out clean with a old rag and Wd40 helps clean it your find the grease sticks to the little finger of the lock tumblers and that why it keeps coming out.
