Done the deal at last bought me self another Shogun, will be sorry to see the old girl go done us proud only servicing costs and a cracked fuel line in nine years.

GrandadBazza/Wendy/John

Didn't want to hear that Grandadbazza as mine is due into the dealers in the next couple of weeks to be replaced, have you informed Andy or Ash, it seems Swift have a bigger problem than they thought.

Can they be sure they fitted the new type window, how do we check its the modified type before they are fitted, must be some way to identify the two types, over to you Andy / Ash.

Nigel ,I dont have any way of telling one window from another ,I assume that when a guy from the Uk distributor comes to my home with a window he says was the latest upgrade sent especialy from Poly Plastic , I tended to believe that this was the solution to the problem, WRONG!!!!!!!

Hi Baza,

oh dear, I'm sorry to hear that and wondering how our new window is going to perform when towing next week!

As you say the fitter seemed to think the replacements were the new type so it doesn't sound too good does it? It makes you wonder why they changed the design in the first place as I've never heard of this sort of thing before.

Hope you had a good holiday anyway :)

Wendy, Bazza, Nigel,

I need to speak to our supplier now about this. The response I got last week reassured me that everything was okay, but clearly something appears to have gone wrong. Polyplastic were planning to post a response on the forums confirming this shortly, I will speak to them and come back to you.

As posted on the other thread too. Just to give an update as promised. I have chased this matter up and have requested a clear concise statement on the matter that either I or our supplier can post on this matter.

I hope to have this by the end of the week,

Thanks

Andy,

Its nice to see the official response from Polyplastics at lasts. Thanks for instigating this .

The only problem is that my van has a window that is marked 0902 which I gather means it was manufactured in Feb 2009.

In which case why do I have these marks?. The panes were clearly seen to be touching each other after I had stopped for a break!.The marks were visible at delivery having only been towed from Swift to dealer and have since got worse during our two trips away.

As far as I can see this window is clearly not strong enough by simply pushing on the centre and noting the deflection, let alone travelling at up to 60mph.

I presume I will be told this is something different or that I shouldnt exceed 120mph whilst towing.!!

Are people expected to be looking through marked windows until their next service?

My replacement window is due for fitment in a couple of weeks time and it will be interesting to see how much it deflects.

All sounds a bit suss to me.

Does the above post from Polyplastic mean the window that Miriad fitted to my van a few weeks ago was the new model ,if so how as it failed in the same way again??????

Can Andy please clarify what tis means and do POLYPLASTIC expect me to put up with a sub standard product till my next service , if I wanted a tatty front window I would have bought a cheap banger not a new caravan!!!!

l am still waiting the replacement of my front window should have done this week, still no reply from discover to say the window is in, if its not in by next week will have to go away again with a front window that looks as though its come out of a hen hutch.

Andy not good for swift as people have remarked about the state of the window on a new van, l know their is a problem to resolve but it is now three an half months since this window was ordered.

l will be onto Discover leisure next week to check if the window is in and that it is the modified one.

Hi, James and all others with same problem , in answer to your last question , my window as 09/04 in top right corner,so it appears Polyplastic have got it wrong unless they are testing these windows a peak time on the M25 when trafic is at a standstill,It is time that they came up with a better excuse ,we all paid a lot of money for our vans and have a right to expect the problem sorting a lot quicker than it has, up to now I have had to make to 55m round trips to my dealer and have had to have time off work for the Miriad fitter to fit one at my home.

My other half has suggested we get some spectacles from polyplastic ,then we will get used to having a gull wing in front of our eyes!!!!

Hi Baza,

All seems to be a bit suspect doesn't it.

Come on Andy lets really get to the bottom of this as Polyplastics post just does not stack up. Baza and myself both with defective post Nov. 2008 windows is too much of a coincidence!

You do all realise this is the result of some clever little s***'s cost saving exercise, make the plastic thinner and save .01p per window.

How many years have the front windows performed perfectly well until another cost cutting exercise took its toll.

Not acceptable.......graaaaaaaaaaaah

Agree with you Jim, I have had numerous vans since my first in 1978,and this is the first van I have had with a window made of "clingfilm" ,!!!

I am sure Andy will come back to us after the weekend with his verdict on the polyplastic post

Hi,

I have spoken to Richard Toon MD of Miriad (Polyplastics UK agent) it is Richard who posted on behalf of Polyplastic Holland.

He explained to me that the vast majority of the replacements have worked successfully, but unfortunately as we now know some have failed again, this does support our findings too.

I have asked and he has agreed that he will come back on here and give a more detailed explanation of the situation which he has committed to do early next week.

I would say I know Polyplastic and the people their well they too are very concerned by these problems and are committed to resolving them as quickly as possible.

To those customer that have had the problem and reoccurrence I apologise on behalf of Swift Group for the inconvenience this has caused.

We will come back early next week.

Thanks

Andy
