Sometimes, with the Caravan Club, they offer a much cheaper deal if you buy 7 Camping Cheques (can more than offset the cost of the cheques, for instance)as well as booking a ferry. You can select this option by choosing 'book site and ferry' and then selecting Camping Cheques only in the 'sites' bit. You can then choose to use the cheques in France, or use them in England at some of the English sites on offer. They last for up to two years, and mean the pitch/electricity/caravan/awning/two people/dog costs only

Isn't there a restriction on using camping cheques in peak season? I think that some sites don't accept them between certain dates.

Yes there is - each site has it's own acceptance dates. However, these are french high season, not English, and some sites takes cheques up until the first week in July, and then again after 12 August. Each site has its' own acceptance dates - you can check them out on the Camping Cheque website (use the .co.uk version). Some sites in Holland take cheques throughout the season, so you can book a 'ferry inclusive' package for any dates, including July/August. If you're going in August/September then you'll find the majority of sites accept cheques after 26th August (ish), and certainly almost all from 1st September. We've always managed a late August/early September couple of weeks, using only Camping Cheques, and last year the ferry and 12 cheques cost us just over

I agree with Chris that Norfolk Line has always for us been cheaper than other lines and the extra 20 miles is nothing on the motorway. Two years ago we took a motor caravan across for

We use Norkolk Line last spring and it was great.

We arrived at Dover earlier than anticipated, a quick phone call to NL had us on the next ferry at no extra charge.

Nice and quiet on the ferry, no queues, lots of space to sit in peace. Food pretty good too.

We prefer the quieter roads around Dunkerque to Calais, it was just a tootle on down to Gandspatte for the first night.

This year we are crossing Brittany Ferries (WE live near Plymouth)(it was cheaper for us to go to Dover last year!!)

We had a real good trawl across the Internet trying to get the best deal to cross the water and were sure we would end up using Dover because Brittany ferries are so expensive. However, this year we managed to get a good deal with the Caravan Club and included camping cheques.

Have a great holiday

Hi Madeleine,

Sorry for being so slow to respond to your query and it may be too late for this year but;

if you get yourself a tesco credit card and use it for everything and anything, purchase wise, they will send you vouchers every three months that can be converted into tokens (rate,
