first week in caravan

well we returned home on Saturday after a wet week in Oxford with the dogs and our caravan

So so glad we got the caravan! Had we of been tenting (as we did previously) we would most certainly of been home by Wednesday!

The caravan was a dream (Bailey Ranger 500/5), tv reception was great (very handy with rain like we had!).

The only thing we want to do is invest in a bigger awning as the porch awning was just too small to accomodate our bits n bobs and to dry the dogs off.

The site was very basic - to empty the waste it was a toilet - not easy to lift the waste container up to *rolls eyes*, and the ground was not drained so the awning was like a mud bath by the end of the week.

Looking forward to our next week away in October, this time we'll have the two kids in tow so it'll be interesting how we do for space then!

Hi Kelly

Glad you enjoyed your trip, despite the weather. We're going away again in October too.

We had a porch awning but got rid of it because it just wasn't suitable.

We really use our awning, we have a tall annexe and if we go away for a couple of weeks or more, we put the two dog crates in the annexe. The dogs sleep in there. If its chilly we cover the crates with cage covers. If its very cold, we leave the halogen heater on, sited safely, if it were to get knocked over, it cuts itself off. I don't trust fan heaters.

We have a two berth, but even if we had plenty of room (well, we do for two), we'd still keep the doggies in the awning. No dog hairs or paw prints to clean up.

Kelly, If that is the best the site owner can do for waste water then empty it near the hedges. No no no not the toilet waste. J.Lo
