Fixing towel holder onto door

Our towel holder has come off our bathroom door. It was only fixed on with a couple of small screws into the thin plywood door.
Our van Is two years old so I could get the dealer to repair it but am happy to do it myself
Since the screw holes have become too large to hold the screws and fitting larger screws would only be a temporary fix, how else can I fix the holder to the door?

Any DIY store will sell you butterfly screws for just this problem. Difficult to describe, but basically a nut and screw, but the nut is spring loaded, and opens out like butterfly wings once it is inside the door, then simply tighten the screw.
This is of course assuming that the door is hollow!

I would get the dealer to do the repair in case there are issues sometime in the future and while under warranty.

I tried the double sided tape but not enough surface on back of holder to stick to door. I think I will take your advice and get the dealer to fix using butterfly fixings when we take the van for its service next year.
Many thanks
Catherine
