Fixings for internal wall

Have bought an electric swivel towel rail to replace the Truma on fitted in our Bailey Indiana S6.The top fixings look like they will go into a fixing block that old towel rail was screwed to.At the bottom the wall is hollow with a 3mm board the 16mmish gap then another 3mm board.I cant see how to get an umbrella type fixing in.Anyone got any suggestions,the towel rail weighs about 2.5 kg.
 
The problem Dave is that only 3mm of board will carry the weight .
How about using one of the resin injection systems? The resin can be squeezed in and once set drilled and a plasplug inserted and screwed? The spread resin should in theory spread the load a fair way around the board?

That might well do it,I also thought of making a metal spreader plate with fixing holes and seeing if I could get it through the hose hole underneath and position it.Thanks for the suggestion.

Nice one Sir Deli Dave well done, can you tell me where you sourced it from as looks a really good idea, also is it hard wired in or have you put a switch to it?

it takes only 60 watt but keeps the towels warm and dry well.I put an unfused spur under the bed out of the way,it has a 3amp fuse.Picked up from the bed socket in 1.5mm heatproof flex.The towel rail idea came from posts on caravantalk,I have the internet address at home think it was about £40 with free delivery took aboutt 3 days.Its very light as there is no liquid just a wire element.If you need any sizes I can measure it for you but we are very pleased with it.Only just got some internet,am at La Tabardiere

Hi Tony,just back yes thats the one but checking the website the swivel one is 49.99+VAT which makes £60 .Having had 2 weeks use of it ,it has been a godsend,drying towels after swimming etc even when the weather hasnt been that good.The swivel is very useful but I will have to do something as it swings about when travelling,popped a pillow between the rail and loo but not a good long term solution,going to see if I can put a chrome locking screw tapped into the nylon swivel.I think with hindsight I'd have gone for the fixed one but again its making a secure fixing.

One more question on the towel rail
Do you use the shower and is it safe to use, obviously my concern is water and electric together

Hi Sir GaGa Kev and welcome back.
We never turned it off,it is suitable for bathroom use,is earthed and you also have the protection of the RCD in the van.The isolating switch need to be outside the bathroom and the rocker switch on the towel rail is waterproof

Brill thanks Sir Deli Dave van is at repair workshop at the moment and get it back in couple of weeks so will do some measuring and see about the fixings etc when he returns, thanks for the welcome back by the way. Take care.
