Floë Drainage Kit / Air Compressor Pressure

Hi
I recently bought a Floë drainage kit in order to winterise my caravan.

The instructions state to build the pressure in the caravan to 15psi but when I attach my compressor, the pressure builds up to around 5psi and then the compressor turns off.

Am I king something wrong? All the taps are in the closed position and the drain tab in the water tank is closed too.

The pressure in the system is enough to force some water out of the taps when opened but still not the 15psi as stated in the instructions.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Jon

Hello Jon. I have a Floe drainage kit. And I use a battery powered 12 v tyre inflator with it. The pressure on my pump builds to 15lb and then cuts out no problem. I can only guess but I would suggest your pump regulating device must be faulty. Perhaps if you have a friend with a 12 volt inflator you could give theirs a trial. There is nothing on the Flo device that would regulate the actual cut of point of the pump. Well as far as I can see.
I would also expect your pump to keep going if you had an air leak via an open tap but you say it cuts out so you probably don't have leak issues.
I must add that I watch my pump pressure very closely when it is building up each time and would quickly intervene if it looked like going over the recommended setting.
My pump is not actually calibrated so I do trust to luck that the setting I use is correct although I have crudely confirmed its accuracy by making comparisons with service stn tyre inflator and the old fashioned pencil gauge. But again that is at the pressures used in car and caravan tyres much higher than required for the floe device
regards Brian

I made my own a few years ago

With my12v tyre inflator running I watch the pressure gauge build up & then crack open the taps & then shut them to build up pressure to do it again ....

Thanks for your replies.

I'm more and more thinking that my 12v compressor has a fault. I'll try another one and see what happens.
