We're hoping to get to Italy next spring with a view to spending some time "doing" Florence. Have spotted Camping Il Poggetto in the Alan Rogers guide.
Any recommendations for sites with easy train/bus connections into Florence would be much appreciated.
Thanks

hi mike. camping village norcenni girasole club, at figline valdarno, top class site although have no idea if its open in spring. train station is 5 minutes from the site in the village free parking and only about 15 miles south of florence. although they do run their own bus excurisions [cheap] into florence too...sites not cheap but you get what you pay for. have stayed there 4 times since 1997 and intend to stay there again soon has everything you need with or without the kids placed on the chianti trail siena is half an hour away as are many of the tuscan treats.... www.camping.it

We have used this site Camping Panorama (formerly Collliverdie) situated between Florence and Sienna and enjoyed it very much, an extremly helpful owner took lots of intrest in our excursions and had produced his own guides with routes and parking. It is a small and very popular site so it would be wise to ring ahead at least to be be sure of a pitch. The views are fantastic. However it was 12 years ago and things can change maybe others on here have been more recently.
