flushing through pipes?

hi there, i recently bought our 1st caravan off my uncle that has been sat for e years,bought new tyres,all gas pipes in date etc

the water all of a sudden stopped working and have been told the carbon may have disintigrated and blocked the pipes so they need flushing through but how do i flush them through to get it all out on a lunar clubman 460 2 ek?

any help would be great

Hi Danny,

You say the water was working but now stopped, is the pump still working? or has that packed in.

If the pump is still o.k. and it is a pipe blockage the only thingI can think of is to start at one end and disconnect each section of pipe one by one checking its clear, running it under a kitchen tap if you're fortunate enough to have the van at home, until you have cleared all the blocked areas. Caravan water supply pipes are normally made of plastic with push connections secured with jubille clips, so not too difficult to work with.You might also want to check the filters at the end of the water taps (where fitted). Sometimes not obvious at first glance but if you have a look right at the end of the taps you will see two flat surfaces to fit a small key onto. Gently slacken off and there will be a guaze filter which might need rinsed.

I've had reduced water flow through a tap because of a partially blocked guaze filter but never complete blockage.

Hopefully some other suggestions will be posted soon.

Had a similar problem with my water pump.....all it was, was the brass 12v terminals had corroded slightly....a bit of a clean up with emery/fine sandpaper did the trick...try that first, it might save you a lot of work

hi, thank you both for your replies. the pump still seems fine, it has been sat for 3 years so the carbon had disintigrated and came out the taps so it may be the blockage. im not sure about the whole filter on the taps etc as it has an actual filter cartridge that you plug in on the outside of the van where the pump comes out of.

and when you say the 12v pins where are they on the pump? sorry if its a silly question,just never owned a van before.lol

and also when you say disconnect the pipes one by one are they located under the caravan? it would be easy enough to rinse through as its kept at my uncles

What you have on the outside of the van is a Crystal 2 water inlet with filter.

What has happened is the carbon granules have been washed through the water system and clogged at the taps.

Take the white filter off the clear end piece (it should just pull off having twisted it round to line up the square holes in the end clear piece with the square extrusions on the white filter part) and replace the clear part to act as a plug.

On each tap spout should be a removable end piece, as has been said, it is this which needs to come off(if fitted) and water flushed through to clear the debris in the pipes.

The majority of pipework is inside the van, so if you want to take each of each tap, it would have to be done at the base of the taps, usually inside a cupboard.

The 12v pins are located on the end of the pump connector, next to the male inlet spigot and on the inlet next to the female receiver.

ah right. thanks damien. so with the gauze on the taps then if i dont have them fitted will it be a case of removing the piping and looking for a blockage?
