Are you getting anywhere with a fix for your Sedona gearbox problem? We seem to be getting nowhere at the moment and want to start going away again soon. We have been told today that KIA will not discuss issues with garages outside the franchise/group you are dealing with, i.e. you are in Stoke we are in Durham, different dealers KIA won't let ours know what yours has found (or not as the case may be) Would it be possible for you to let us have your email (I think if you let the Mods know they will pass it on) so that we can get in touch direct. Apart fron this it does the job just right as we have extra kit like wheelchairs to carry and would struggle to find another, we can't afford to change either.

By shear coincidence I phoned Kia customer services again yesterday, but no help yet.

We've decided to phone them every month.

Also I'm going to try and get head office address and write to thme direct, I'm afraid it's like dealing with a sponge wall up to yet.

Took new van out at Christmas and gearbox started to play up after 55 miles.

Went to the dealers again but they are helpless.

They reckon Kia think it's an overheating problem and are working on an intercooler.

We've found thought that if you just switch off then on again it's all hunky dory again i.e. no cooling time needed.

To thwe point that if you re-start your engine, say at traffic lights or in any situation where it's safe you gain that distance, ergo, if you've done 30 miles and re-start you'll get 95 miles before problems instead of 65.

I'm afraid we're going to become complete pains for Kia until they sort us out one way or another, we're not going to have another season like last year.

I've even toyed with contacting caravan mags or a car mag. with the problem, anything to get Kia moving, prehaps enough pressure especially after the Toyota episode might make Kia sit up.

The dealer has been great but i'm afraid that doesn't help.

had to leave post for other business sorry.

Our dealer is utterly frustrated, apparently they've about 6+ Sedonas with the same problem.

I gather there's an owner in same situation with a 58 model who's giving them grief as well, but as they say their hands are tied.

We even asked if they could reset the gearbox ECU to it's original settings to try but apparently Kia have refused.

After trying their 'stop after about 60 miles and have a cuppa and sandwich idea', we eventually found that as I've stated previously, just restarting the engine makes the problem go away.

Through this we're utterly convinced it's a software problem but...........

The dealers even know my voice when I phone now, whether thats a good thing or not I don't know.

Anyway if I can contact one of the mods I'll willing give you my e-mail address.

By the way our dealer has had requests to supply UK ECU software to continental Kia dealers for UK cars holidaying there with the problem.

All the best

i had problems with my 07 sedona that i no longer own. i loved the car BUT it had a problem that it would just go into limp safe mode and if im overtaking on the motorway it would drop down to 40 mph in the middle lane or fast lane and omg it would be scary. the engine management light would come on but when i took it back to the garage the light would be off and it didnt store the problem. they did softwhere updates but still nothing. i rang a kia garage up in i think was suffok or essex gave him the symptoms and he told me he had had 6 sedona s in with the same problem and it was the mtering unit to do with the fuel pump system. after a month of the garage having it the garage not beliving me and head office being so rubbish and not beliving me i handed it back and bought my hyundai santa fe. i do miss the sedona it was great with bags of room, a fab tow car and those huge elec door and privacy glass.

i know i had the manual and your is the autos but i just wanted to say that the service from kia to me was rubbish also and i just advise to do some digging around yourself you never know you might find a guy like i did theat can help

good luck
