Hi Dave

Did you go before this so called upgrade of the touring pitches?

We saw a 360' tour on touringholidays website and the pitches seemed ok. My expectations are not too high as had 6 days in Marton Mere Blackppol last year, surely it cannot be any worse than that (and we still had a great time!)

Any other tips or advice greatly appreciated. We will be driving from Pembroke down to Devon having sailed from Ireland on a sunday afternoon. Does anyone know what kind of roads or traffic we might encounter?

Thanks in advance

Brenda

hi Brenda to be fair we quite enjoyed it we went last year in June and I dont know when the revamp was.We got off to a bad start inasmuch as we booked a full service pitch but someone had booked it for the weekend and so we had a standard pitch. We never put the awning up as we were due to move pitches Monday and it hammered down awnings were full and people were pushing the water out with brooms we sat up counting our blessings as we couldnt sleep with the drumming.Haven gave us a credit note for a weekend and a free meal pass for a day .Once we were set up it was fine. There are loads of things to do there we paid for breakfast and evening meal each day as the grandchildren and family were with us.It is a steep walk to the beach and we also went to Dawlish using the bus and ferry which was a bit of a disaster as it a) took forever,b)cost a fortune compared to a car with 6 of us in c) the bus was filthy and loads of hassle with 2 pushchairs and baby stuff.Overall we enjoyed it and are going to the Haven at Weymouth next week when you ve got children you have to have some entertainment to keep them occupied. There are a few drawbacks, people coming back to the van half cut and noisy complete with kids running riot and noisy stereos etc but we didnt buy the pitch only rented it for the week so we dont live by them 24/7.Hope you enjoy it,sorry for the novel Dave
