Is there any sort of reason that this forum does not have a buy/sell/wanted topic???

Let me guess its a red tape thing!!

It is nothing to do with red tape, or any other coloured tape for that matter.

Lets just put it down to a very antiquated forum engine, which is, as we have been told, "in the pipeline for change".

There was a for sale part, on the home page, under Knowledge Base, there is a link for small ads, BUT it says a new section is "under construction" and directs you to caravansitefinder

Tugster, whilst I agree that a for sale area would be good, by the number of posts per day a new thread will move down the board very quickly and be lost in the rest of old postings.

There is also the rule in Forum Etiquette which says "# You may not transmit any advertising or promotional material."

Personally I think this is a double edged sword.

On the one hand it is there to stop a flood of outright blatant advertising by companies and such like, only interested in pushing their products, BUT it also stops private individuals from selling on unwanted items on an ad hoc basis, usually to the benefit of both seller and buyer.

There are a lot of improvements which could be made to the way the forum operates, it just needs Haymarket to change the engine, which is where we come back to square one.

or 'WANTED'

Perhaps I could start it off by 'advertising' for a chest of drawers for the front of our Swift caravan - must be modern, with flip-over table. Any offers?

Go to www.ukcampsite.co.uk.

You'll find a fantastic "For Sale" section there that reaches thousands of caravanners.

Approval has been given for adding two new forum topics, Hobbies/Interests and Going Spare (buying and selling).

We're in the queue for techie development time to have this done.
