Ford Mondeo TDCi Max Braked Towing Wgt.

I am looking into buying a 2002/2003 Ford Mondeo 2.0TDCi. When looking at the towing capacities some of these cars state a kerb weight of 1427kg with a maximum braked towing weight of 1800kg and some just the kerb weight.
It is a bit confusing, Does anybody know what triggers the change/ Is it a date? or Do they all have the max braked towing wgt of 1800kg?
Any advice would be appreciated.

I don't know whether all 2.0TDCi's are rated at 1800kg, but it's easy enough to check by having a look at the respective VIN plate of the car that you are looking at. That will give you details of the gross train weight and gross vehicle weight. Subtract one from the other and that will tell you the maximum braked towing weight.
For current Mondeo models you can get all the data from the Ford website.

I have a 2006 2.2 tdci and the log book claims a towing weight of 1800kg, we were actually looking for a 2.0tdci to tow our 1500kg van.
If memory serves me right the St version is not for towing but the rest of the tdci of 130 bhp or 155bhp can tow to 1800kg. Not something i would be happy to do though.

I have a 2004 tdci mondeo and the logbook states that the max towing weight for my car is 1800kgs the kerbweight of my car is 1505kgs and I tow a caravan weighing 1400kg without any problems.
