France at Easter

We are wanting to go to Brittany at Easter. We live in the south west so Plymouth-Roscoff is the desired route.

Camping Cheques seem quite reasonable but we can't find any sites open from the Good Friday!

Is France open over Easter or does it not get going until April?

Any advice... please?

Allan Rogers guides publish an 'Open All Year' book - this gives sites all over Europe, as it says, open all year. Most French sites open later than their English counterparts, but there are some open early season - and I'm sure there are one or two Camping Cheque sites amongst them. Camping Cheques are very good value - we've used them since they started.

Unfortunately, the 'Open All Year' book has not been updated for some years and is now well out of date. The current Alan Rogers' guides do give a list of year-round sites in their other guides, but this is not very extensive (about 40 listed in the 2005 France guide).

The Michelin guide 'Camping France' indicates year-round sites on its maps (town names are underlined if they have an all-year site), otherwise, I am afraid it is a question of browsing through the likes of the Caravanning Club guides, which do give opening dates, but do not highlight all-year sites in any way.

Even where sites are listed in Alan Rogers or Michelin as 'Open All Year', this can sometimes mean only 'most of the year'. Many of them still close for a month or so at some point.
