We are considering going to France in 2022, so we contacted the firm that we have booked with before and were told that in 2022, the site we have previously been to is no longer using them, also the firm are no longer offering combined travel insurance. One of the reasons we used them was the ability to book everything through them, Ferries, Site, insurance, both personal medical, and breakdown cover. The CAMC offer a similar package but not for the site we would like, so now have the option of booking, site direct, ferries direct, and insurance direct, insurance is more complicated as I had a heart attack a year ago and have the benefit of 3 stents, So advice please, ideally would like to hear of another agent that can offer an all in one booking service, for site in Sothern Brittany with serviced pitch. Also welcome advice should we go down the 'book it ourselves' route. Enquiries today show that some cover is available ref Covid so that is an area that the insurers seem to be offering cover, whereas last year it was almost impossible to find.

Have you looked at CCC, or Eurocamp Independent. for all in one bookings? Why not book ferries, travel and breakdown insurance via CMHC and the site direct? That way if things go awry then you could rely on CMHC support. Most insurers are now offering covid cover, but you need to check the T&C as there are variations.

woodsieboy, you are not the first to be in that position. I had my first and second episode long before I retired. I have continued to enjoy overseas trips, and I am now 76. I assume you have been signed off by your specialist, so you are not waiting for any surgery or test results. This means you are good to go.

I have just had a quote for next year at less than £200 for personal and travel. This is a superb travel policy too. There are loads of ways to book your campsite and ferry, either using the club or simply booking direct. As it's winter now, you have time to get the information together and do some serious browsing and planning. That is what we do every winter (barring the C19 interuption).
I could recommend some great sites you would like in Southern Brittany and a bit further south. They are all there to chose from!

Hello Ern, thanks for your input, very positive, I have looked at CAMC, as already a member, and the Red Pennant insurance looks good as it offers a combined policy, others I have looked at offer motoring and medical as 2 policies and all have been more than RP. My main concern is that we have always booked via Direct Sites/Eurocamp as they offered a complete package that was supported by them being ABTA members, and also a single point of contact, when needed. We have broken down twice over the years and they always responded well. we know Southern Brittany quite well and as a result have a site in mind, which when I checked their own website had availability and a pitch we like, ferries are available too, so I just need to spend some time as you say, and following Other Clive's advice I will look at CCC package,as I think they have the site, and are ABTA, just concerned that the more elements I involve , the more opportunity for problems, and I haven't even asked about Covid precautions for France yet. As regards the health issues it is a year since my 'procedure' and I have recently had my medication reduced and all ongoing tests seem good, next tests are set for February 22, so having missed last 2 years am keen to get to France in 22

France when a few days before departure my father was hospitalised. It quickly became apparent that we wouldn’t be able to go on the holiday. Some of the bookings were via CMHC and one with CCC. Ferries were by CMHC as was Red Pennant travel and breakdown cover. I rang CMHC and discussed the options. They offered to rebook everything and reschedule the insurances. This wasn’t an option so they looked at the complete booking and advised that site No 1 had been paid and could not be refunded as it was within the 7 day cancellation period. But if I did not make any claim the insurances, ferries costs and other bookings could be cancelled and all monies refunded. It was all done by phone and email no hassle in providing proof of fathers illness. CCC also just cancelled with no hassle.
The CMHC travel policy is good, it’s questions are simple to answer, unlike some, and the cover and claims service has an excellent reputation.

In the past I have requested that RA be excluded from the medical cover. With some policies there is quite a drop, but on others hardly any movement. Mention the big C and it goes through the roof even though you have been cleared by the specialist! Red Pennant is the best policy for us.
Our experiences with overseas travel issues over close on 50 years have been minor and few (thank goodness).
Red Pennant and The Caravan Club have been brilliant each time. The travel insurance of the other club was very difficult on the one occasion we needed it.

It's a new system being introduced for non EU visitors to the EU who do not require visas in order to make their borders more secure. We're obviously no longer a member so have to comply.
So far as I can see you will be able to apply online so it's unlikely to cause the chaos described in the article. It will cost 7 euros for applicants aged between 18 and 70, otherwise it's free.

It’s no different in reality to what we have had to do to visit the US fir several years now. Other countries such as Turkey, India etc require visas which can be expensive and time consuming to apply for. The EU one lasts 3 years doesn’t it?

I purchased our crossing for next year, recently. Caravan Club prices looked good until I realised that they are the lowest cost tickets with no refunds and charges for amendments. For slightly more, I bought "fully refundable for any reason" tunnel tickets. We cannot be sure about the future, can we?

Much of Europe are seeing C19 cases rising very rapidly, and rates of infection are now significantly higher than the UK's. Just to-day Austria announced another lock down and that that vaccines will now be compulsory for their population. Do be very much aware that if you are planning a trip abroad, then it may still be corrupted by C19, and I expect it will begin to cross the channel again to the UK. Christmas in the UK may be yet again restricted. Just be prepared to change any plans you have made.

Since Europe is affected by our Delta variant we shouldn’t be worried that it may come here. It started here and it is still here as the predominant variant in UK.

Until we get an influx of a different variaity. These virusis mutate. 13 different types so far and borders opening up.
It will get worse with the winter. And then mutate towards the summer.

The Caravan Club have a price
The Caravan Club is offering a saving of £22 on the standard non-refundable price outward, and do not offer the Refundable booking.
The same booking direct is £50 more for the Refundable booking, but, I think it's worth the extra to know that we have complete choice about going or not, and no fees to change the date. If we simply cancel, we get a full refund.
For the return trip, the difference between Euro Tunnel and Caravan Club is £81. It sounds a lot, but we are comparing the Caravan Club's non-refundable/non-amendable price with EuroTunnel's fully refundable.
I agree with the above comments that the situation in Europe looks dreadful at the moment. Let's hope it doesn't turn out to be as bad as the media is reporting, for everyone's sake.

Why would they trek across several safe countries to enter the UK illegally as surely trekking across those countries cost money? How can they be after a better life when they have accummalted thousands of pounds to spend on paying people to help them cross the channel. Surely in their home country they would have had a job and a home to accummalate all that money?
