You definitely can not use it for "freeview" because that is recieved by a normal type TV aerial not a satellite and these boxes will only work with satellites.

You could use it to pick up free to air channels from a satellite but you would need a dish etc.

Personally I would go for a 12V satellite kit with everything you need for
