Fresh Milk, Spain and Portugal

Anyone advise how and where one gets fresh milk in Spain and Portugal.

I read somewhere it comes in plastic bags.

please let me know as the wife hates UHT on or in anything.

Most Spanish locals buy long-life milk in 1ltre cartons, but in all the holiday resorts you'll find fresh milk - quite often semi-skimmed as well in 1 litre cartons with screw tops.

Both whole and semi skim milk available in most large supermarkets e.g. Mercadona, Intermarche, Consum together with UHT in boxes. Colour code on caps does not seem consistant so always read the label. Can quite often be "short dated" so worth a check on the bottle - sometimes they don't get taken off the shelf when they should.

I agree with the comments. Fresh milk is available in large supermarkets but can be hard to find as it is not with the other milks. Also, as mentioned sometimes the freshness is questionable as virtually everyone uses UHT. I would suggest tryng different brands of UHT as they have markedly different tastes and we found that some were indistinguishable from the fesh stuff.
