Having now had the first trip out in the van since it returned from the factory the fridge has played up every night!!! Whilst van was is in having the damp sorted they looked at fridge and fitted a new mother board. Obviously no hook up so running on gas and all was well until 2.30 am when the disco lights started flashing, Turned off, re lit and all okay until about the same time the next night, and the next and the next...................... Off out again on Weds so any ideas as doubt if I'll make it into the workshop before going.

The dreaded Thetford fridge!!! Which model not sure but the N range! ?? 107 or 115 litre???
We spent a holiday in France with a new Thetford fridge not working
We were told to ensure the van was level
So it was jacked up on site in Exeter to level across the van and the Lidl trolley jack broke
So the day before the ferry off to the nearest caravan dealer and bought a Kojack
Back to the site and jacked up again only for all the oil to leak out of the new jack
Back to dealer new jack and van levelled
Fridge still not working
5 weeks in France with cool box and kind friends freezing blocks
So if you go take a cool box with you
Oh and we were later told by the dealer after a new fridge fitted that across the van levelling isn't important

Contacting Thetford in France resulted in instruction to take the outfit to a dealer 20 miles away
Not ideal with the awning attached

Slightly off topic but Powrtouch sent out a mobile engineer to fix our mover FOC. Excellent service.

Why can't Thetford do the same?

Had to get gas today so had a chat with my service chap, He thinks it's the thermister so has given me a new one to try and if that works will take the old one in so he can claim for it. Fingers crossed!!!

While a fridge needs to be reasonably level, the amount is perhaps best understood by this statement; 'you would not want to live in a van so out of level the fridge won't work'.... and that's side to side, it matters not how far out it is front to back.

Sorry I cannot offer any direct solution for the problem, except perhaps and generally, out of balance wheels on the caravan cause untold electric/electronic problems

Booked in September and hopefully will be sorted then, suspect the new mother board not doing it's thing. Hopefully won't be like the old one and have to be replaced!!

I'd be happier to have another new board as the replacement could be one of a faulty batch.

My last caravan had a troublesome Dometic fridge, failed 3 times over 7 years, but that was the element.

Sorry Ray I meant a replacement fridge like the last van had to have, quite happy to have yet another mother board, if it does the job this time!
