Fridge always on

Does anyone know why my fridge in my Swift Hi-Style remains on after the 'power' button above the van's door has been turned off? The van was new in February and after our first trip I did all the usual things to close it down before going home. A week later I went back to take it out again and the battery was completely dead. I assumed I hadn't done all the things I should have done but couldnt think what that might have been.

We took it to a site and once connected to the mains it ran fine and the meter showed 13 to 14 volts depending on what was being used. When we took it back to where we store it, I turned the power switch off again and then looked around to see if anything was on. To my surprise the fridge was still on, something that didnt happen with our previous Swift Charisma. I turned the frdige switch off and today, nearly 3 weeks later, I went back and this time the power all came on fine. However, the battery meter only showed 11 volts and from what I have read and understand, it should be higher than that - or would it drop to that level after 3 weeks not being used?

The battery is 110 amps and was new just over 3 years ago.

Anyone able to help please?

Steve

If the fridge's cooling system was operating from the battery would have been killed it in something like 14 hours so the good news is it is only the fridges electronic controller [brain] that has been powered. You need to get that battery recharged very promptly to avoid unneccessary further damage to it. I expect the controller has been looking for a gas supply all the while?

On my 2011 Bailey, the fridge switch must be left in the off position.
otherwise in any other position, gas, car, mains, the fridge light will be on, assuming you leave it in the storage position, part open.

The fridge will only select the next available source if it an AES fridge, otherwise you have to select manually.
The fridge electronics run off of 12volts so you will have to turn then the fridge off to turn this supply off .
As said it was probably the fridge light that drained the battery.

Switch your battery to the middle position when leaving the van. Ours has car/middle/van and when using 12v you switch it to van, when towing switch it to car, and when leaving it switch it to the middle which means it's actually switched off.
