Hi All

Fitting a fan seems like a good idea in readiness for this long hot summer ! * ! * ! but does fitting one invalidate any caravan warranty in any way ? We have just had a problem with our fridge which has been sorted under warranty but if there was an additional part added would the manufacturers have declined to rectify the fault ?

Regards

Hi JohnM

Re any warranty issues, mainly for that reason I did not use any of the wiring connected to the fridge but, after advice from an electrician friend, took a lead directly from the wiring at the back of the distribution box ( or whatever the correct name is).

The two fans are therefore fitted behind the top ventialtion grill in proximity to the fridge but in no way connected to it. I also fitted an online fuse.

I have done the same as Robert. The fans are connected to the Maplin thermostat kit (which I placed inside a 'project box'), which in turn is connected directly to the Van's 12V circuit, using an in-line fuse. I left the thermistor and the knob from the variable resistor protruding from the box, for ease of use.

The Maplin kit and 2 fans draw about 1/2A combined, so with a 1A fuse fitted, all should be safe!
