Fridge not working on electric ?

Hi,

We switched on our fridge last night ( on mains hook up to our garage ) with a view to chilling it ready for our hols tommorrow, the green light has come on but the inside is still at room temperature..........Help !

I haven't tried it on gas yet.

If the thermostat has broken, then does the gas side of the fridge's operation still use the same thermostat ? ie Do they share the same thermostat or do they have their own ?

Any advice welcome as the dealer's service dept. has now closed for the weekend !

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike, Try the fridge on gas, if it cools then the 240v element has failed, fairly simple job,as for the thermostat depends on the age and model of fridge, some of the newer models use the same stat for both power sources.

Thanks Metz,

By the way, I think I may have possibly found the problem !

Last night when I switched the fridge on, I forgot to take off the exterior vents. Tonight as I was loading the van, I noticed they were on, removed them and then found the fridge to be at room temp. Could it be that the fridge had shut itself down if it was overheating ?

Thanks,

Mike
