Fridge removal

Hi all,

Has anyone removed their fridge? Mine wont light by the pietzo igniter I have to remove the vent on the outside of the van and light the fridge with a long gas lighter with the dragon pushing the button inside the van (you can imagine what thats like in the rain).

As far as I can see the pietzo contacts have been displaced and I hope it's just a matter of reinstalling the parts to their original positions. Any help would be greatly appretiated

Its a 1998 vintage electrolux (dont know model number)

Hello John,

sorry to be dampener on the proceedings, but removal/fitting and servicing of gas appliances should be carried out by a competent fitter. This is for your safety, and the safety of others.

It isn't difficult to remove a fridge-there are usually 4 screws towards the front of the unit 2 to ,2 bottom, probably with blanking plugs covering them. The copper gas supply pipe will be long enough to allow removal without disconnecting, so you won't need to worry about that. I would strongly recommend that you either take some measurements or make up some bits of cardboard or whatever to establish the position of the fridge relative to any cabinets whilst the fridge is in its original position. This is because its fairly heavy, and it can be difficlut to find the the original screw holes, if there is some leeway back and forth, when you come to re-fit. Its worth vacuuming around the jet to remove any debris that has fallen in as well

Thanks for that Chris, I'll check this weekend and hopefully the igniter can be popped back into place.
thanks again

You should be aware that if you move the fridge 1" or 12' that a gas test should be carried out, for your safety and the safety of others.
