Front Locker Gas Strut

Hi! Does anyone know if I can replace the metal strut with a gas strut on my 2006 Compass Corona. My dealer says not possible, but Omega and Rallye have gas strut on the same shape locker??

sounds a bit stupid to me, what reason did they give for saying a new one could not be ordered

they said it couldnt be attached correctly, but I have my doubts about this. The Compass Corona is the same van as Elddis Avante.

Where the Gas Strut is fitted to the other vans, they will have reinforced plates at the mounting points. Your van has been built to use the metal rod assembly, therefore there will be no reinforced plate to enable a retro fit of the Gas Strut.

i think what they mean is that the fixing points that the strut

attaches to is not there, if you can get pictures of the van

thats got them on, its a fairly big job fiberglassing the mountings on to the lid and inside

is it worth it the end of the day, i have seen more problems with the gas struts than the rod type

Thanks guys! Ok will stick with the metal rod and hope it stops blowing free in the wind!!! Paul
