Fuel compsuption

I have been thinking of changing my tow car for a pajero 2.8 lwb

but i'm a bit concerned to mpg /mpl round the doors and when towing, we have a 99 avondale landranger 20ft twin axle. any comments would help with this decision colin (newcastle)

and you are right to be concerned , we tow with a 2.7td terrano and get around 23 - 25mpg towing , 25mpg round town and 30 mpg on a decent run.guess a 2.8 pajero will be about the same , but hey , you only live once and you cant take it with you ....

We just come back from Shropshire, we got 14 years old Daihatsu Fourtrak 2.8 TDX well look after we get about 25-27 towing a 1300kg van that mix motorway+ local road, get about 30-35 solo we love it, alot depent on your right foot and the gears in the right time, what ever you get enjoy your driving. I also have a Daihatsu Fourtrack - 1998 model and find it first rate for towing a Bailey ranger 500/5. Have trouble in keeping to 60mph as the car is brilliant for towing. Last time I checked consumption I was getting approx. 30mpg whilst towing and approx 35mpg solo. It may be a bit basic compared to more modern 4x4s but it serves its purpose, comfortable although a bit noisy and best of all very reliable.
