Yes EH, fuel shortage, 1 in 5 garages are closed and the rest are limiting to 20 litres or 20 euros, can`t remember, Doesn`t matter though because even if you find a garage with fuel the queues are horrendous, Lots of holiday makers stuck over here, no fuel so they can`t travel,

Should be all finished By then I hope, we have an almost 1500 to 2000 mile trip planned, but only two places, Vermenton and Bessacon, booked, deposit at Bessacon paid, We shall survive.

there is a strike at all of their oil refineries

I think you'll find that it is transport drivers that are on strike over new labour laws introduced by Hollande. That and a few burning tyres blocking the road doesn't help.

Getting fuel out of refineries can be a little difficult in those circumstances?

Who knows, feel sorry for the folks going over this week for the bank holiday and half term. Fontain les Clercs could be pretty full.
Have to get some extra garlic and turn the heating to max and sit on the driveway. :p

Seems to be quite localised, mainly arround Paris, Nantes and the Channel coast. I'm just South of Limoges and we have 2 supermarkets near us. I went past both this morning - 2 cars at the pumps at one and 3 cars at the other. The situation might be different on the autoroute. No one seems to be panicking in this area though.

It's nothing to do with the EU - this is purely a national issue with Hollande trying to change the archaic French labour laws. I seem to remember the UK has had fuel strikes in the past which, also, were nothing to do with the EU.

I am near Royan and there doesn't seem to be a shortage. I arrived here Wednesday and Deisel was €1.08, I filled up yesterday and the price at the same garage was €1.14. So no shortage just a big price increase.
At least that's how it is at the moment.

Can't speak for the Paris and Channel ports areas but further South there are no problems.

Apparently the strike is off until tomorrow or Friday so there shouldnt be much problem getting fuel. As well as tanker drivers there will be strikes by air traffic controllers, dock workers, and rail workers. Not sure if they will all be the same time.

We have just stopped at Cholet on our way down to D'Orleron and all petrol stations have been open with no queues or shortages.
